The WORKshop started as a simple idea — could a prefabricated shed be transformed into a full-scale luxury fitness suite? Our client wanted a dedicated space to train, recharge, and work without leaving their property. The challenge: just 200 square feet to design a complete wellness ecosystem.
The Vision
We set out to create a “Private Detached Fitness Suite” — a new category of backyard build that merges the quality of a high-end home gym with the craftsmanship of a boutique studio. The goal was a space that felt intentional, insulated, and beautifully finished, where every square inch worked harder than a typical garage.
The Build
We began with a prefabricated shell, stripping it down to the studs to rebuild it with commercial-grade quality.
•Structure: Fully insulated with Rockwool for acoustic and thermal comfort.
•Finishes: Nova Wood ceiling, matte black walls, and a contrasting light oak floor trim that added warmth and depth.
•Flooring: Ecore Steel Appeal performance flooring — durable, grippy, and stylish enough for a design magazine.
•Lighting: Layered LED lighting on dimmers for workouts, recovery, and focus work.
•Climate Control: Mini-split HVAC and low-profile ceiling fans for year-round comfort.
The Function
Every zone inside The WORKshop was purpose-built:
•Training Zone: Wall-mounted Athena Rack by REP Fitness rack, adjustable bench, and tall storage to keep the footprint open. For cardio, a Matrix CXC. And for cable and explosive rotational work, the ANCORE pro.
•Recovery Nook in Garage: Infrared & Red Light Therapy Sauna by Peak Saunas.
The Result
The final space feels like a coastal retreat — grounded, minimal, and motivating. It’s proof that you don’t need a massive footprint to create a powerful environment for training and focus. Every material choice was made to serve a dual purpose: performance and peace.
