New Year, New Gym: Which Beachside Client Are You?

Which Beachside Client Are You?

At Beachside Custom Gyms, we don’t do random equipment dumps in a room and call it a “home gym.” We build performance spaces – sometimes simple, sometimes insanely custom – but always planned with intention so you don’t waste money (or square footage).

This post is your quick guide to:

Our 5 client archetypes

How our pricing works

Exactly which service path fits you best

The Beachside Pricing Structure (Simple on purpose)

Almost every project fits into a 3-step system:

Step 1: Discovery Call (Complimentary)

A quick call to understand your goals, your space, and your timeline – then we point you to the right archetype + next step.

Step 2: Planning & Design (where the magic + clarity happens)

This is the “build it on paper first” phase – so your construction, equipment, electrical, HVAC, and layout actually work.

Homeowners

  • Build-Ready Plan – $2,500 (technical foundation + layout + requirements + investment ranges)
For simpler garages, we can sometimes scale this into a lighter planning scope in the ~$1,500–$2,500 range if the space is straightforward.

  • Full-Service Design – $7,500 (finalized layout + equipment integration + lighting/finishes/storage decisions)

Industry Partners (builders/architects/designers)

  • Design Review & Coordination – $7,500 flat fee (nationwide) (plan review, equipment selections & clearances, electrical/HVAC requirements, material specs, redlines + coordination notes)

Optional upgrade (anyone)

  • 3D Render Set – $2,500 (photorealistic visuals for confidence + approvals)

Step 3: Execution (pick one or all)
  • Design + Build (full build-out + project management; priced once design is defined)

  • Procurement + Project Management10–15% of equipment order

  • White-Glove Installation$5,000–$7,500 + travel

The 5 Beachside Client Archetypes (and where you fit)
1) Garage Jimmy (The “Make it work for the whole family” owner)

Who you are: Entrepreneur homeowner. Busy schedule. Kids in travel ball. You want training to be automatic – no commute, no chaos.

What you care about:

  • Function > flex

  • Decluttered layout

  • Gear that fits the way your family actually trains

Common reality: You already own equipment… it just lives in the wrong place and the room flows like a garage sale.

Your best-fit path:

  • ✅ Build-Ready Plan ($1,500–$2,500 depending on complexity)
You get a 2D layout, zoning (strength/cardio/recovery), and the “is this viable + what’s the real investment?” clarity.

  • ✅ Build Services
Garage conversion, back house, extra bedroom gym, detached fitness ADU – whatever it takes to make the space legit.

You’re Jimmy if you’re saying:

  • “I don’t need luxury – I need this to work.”

  • “We need room for a rack, treadmill, and a plunge without tripping over stuff.”

2) Design Build Denise (Interior Designer / Architect who wants gym help)

Who you are: You design beautiful homes. You’ve planned a gym… but now you need it to function like a real training space and that’s not your wheelhouse.

What you care about:

  • A gym that matches the home’s aesthetic

  • Correct clearances, equipment spacing, and “real life” usability without having to figure that out yourself

  • Clean coordination & collaboration so your project doesn’t stall

Your best-fit path (two common options):

  • ✅ Design Review & Coordination – $7,500
We lock in the functional layout, equipment integration, and the technical needs (electrical/HVAC/spacing).

  • ✅ Add 3D Renders +$2,500 if your client wants visuals (or approvals need them).

How Denise fits into our pricing:

  • Your “Design Lite” maps to Design Review & Coordination.

  • Your “Full Design” usually = Design Review + 3D Render Set.

3) Custom Builder Ben (Custom home builder who wants the gym done right)

Who you are: You’re building a high-end home. The gym is in the plans… but nobody has truly thought through the equipment + spacing + systems.

What you care about:

  • Zero surprises during construction

  • A gym that feels intentional (not a Peloton shoved in a corner)

  • Smooth procurement + install logistics

Your best-fit path:

  • Design Review & Coordination – $7,500 (nationwide)

  • Procurement + PM – 10–15% of equipment order (we handle ordering, freight, scheduling, vendor wrangling)

  • White-Glove Install – $5,000–$7,500 + travel

Ben moves fast. This package is built for speed.

4) Athlete Alex (Elite athlete, or performance-obsessed high achiever)

Who you are: You want a space that hits like a private training facility. Best finishes. Best equipment. Stunning visuals. Recovery dialed.

What you care about:

  • Performance-first layout (with wow factor)

  • Premium materials + lighting + storage integration

  • Recovery suite planning (sauna, cold plunge, compression, etc.)

Your best-fit path:

  • Build-Ready Plan – $2,500 (foundation + feasibility + systems)

  • Design Review & Coordination – $7,500+ (often expanded scope when multiple spaces are involved)

  • Execution: procurement/PM + build-out + white-glove install (full-service, end-to-end)

Typical total project ballpark: $300K–$500K (especially with multiple zones like court + gym + recovery).

This is where 3D renders are often a no-brainer because the details matter.

5) Commercial Gym Cal (Gym owner / entrepreneur building or remodeling a facility)

Who you are: You’re opening a gym, expanding, franchising, or remodeling an existing space. You need it to perform operationally – not just look cool.

What you care about:

  • Member flow + capacity planning

  • Front desk + retail + bathrooms + sauna + storage + durability

  • A build plan that doesn’t wreck your timeline, operating hours, (or your cash flow)

Your best-fit path:

  • ✅ Build-Ready Plan – $2,500 (technical foundation still matters in commercial)

  • ✅ Full-Service Design + Build (commercial scope increases fast due to systems + code + multiple areas)

Typical investment ranges:

  • Remodels start around $60K (varies heavily by size + finishes + mechanical scope)

  • New builds commonly start around $500K+ (and go up based on equipment brand, size of space in question, finishes, and amenities)
